Eligibility For Dubai Work Visa

  • You need to hold a Passport with the validity of 6 months on arrival in Dubai.
  • You need to apply 60 days Work Visa on approval it enables you to work in the UAE.
  • During this period your employer will apply for the work visa which will be further validated for 2 years.

How to apply for a Dubai Work Visa?

  • On clearing medical test you will be receiving Resident visa and after that Labour card.
  • Labour Card which is also an identity card must be carried all the time as the Labour officials may check anytime.

Documents for Dubai Work Permit

There is no particular set of documents required to process work permits. It varies on the basis of the visa you apply for. Your employer will be applying on behalf of you and needs to prove that business is properly registered and the job you are doing cant be filed in another manner locally. Though some of the basic lists of the documents are:

  • Passport
  • Application form
  • Passport size photo
  • Applicable fees
  • Valid Health Certificate
  • Entry Permit
  • Education Certificates
  • Any other professional certificates
  • Sponsoring company’s license
  • Employment Contract – for yourself, employer & Ministry of Labor.

Procedure for applying for Work Permit

  • The first step will be to get approval from the Ministry of Labour.
  • Employers will be applying on behalf of the employee.
  • It needs to be processed when the employee is in the home country.
  • On receiving the approval from the Ministry of Labour you will be issued an Entry Permit which will allow you to legally enter Dubai
  • Entry Permit will be valid only for 2 months from the date of issue and will allow staying only for 30 days.
  • Upon entering Dubai the application process to obtain Labour Card will begin.
  • After completion of all these steps, you need to visit the Emirates ID service center along with the form, passport, & valid entry permit.
  • The next step will be to apply with the Immigration Authorities for the residence visa and it will be done by the employer. The employee needs to go to any government hospital for medical tests.
  • Upon receiving the medical test results applicant has to visit the Department of Naturalization and Residency Dubai will all the documents and get the visa stamped on the passport.

The validity of the Work Visa

  • Whatever, the job you carry out in Dubai irrespective of that your visa application should be done by the employer.
  • In case if you will be working for under 30 days, your employer will be applying on your behalf for short term visa.
  • 90 days Multiple Entry are for those coming for only a few months for that you need to provide documents and proof of business registration to consider your application.
  • A student can also be able to work as an intern under the student visa without applying for a new work permit.

Points to Remember

  • Once the process of visa is over you need to check on the remark of Emigration Check Required on the passport which is usually seen on the last page of the passport.
  • Passport with the remark of the Emigration Check Required needs to update OK TO BOARD message on the ticket.
  • The process of OK TO BOARD message can only be done when you receive the visa and also have your ticket booked.
  • This process is done by the travel agent through which you have got your visa processed.
  • For updating OK TO BOARD message Confirmed Air Ticket, Passport copy, and Visa copy is required.
  • In case of failure in updating OK TO BOARD message on the Air Ticket may lead to deportation despite having a valid visa.
  • There will be a nominal charge of 300 to get the OK TO BOARD message updated on the ticket.
  • OK TO BOARD message must be updated at least 48 hrs before the travel.
